When speaking of unpleasant conditions during pregnancy, most of us probably think of nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting 

As we mentioned in the introduction, vomiting and nausea are very common in pregnancy. However, the good news is that in most cases these symptoms subside after the first trimester. Vomiting itself does not pose a risk to the mother or the fetus, however, experts agree that if it is severe enough to cause weight loss, you should contact your doctor. 

Getting enough rest, being out in the fresh air and drinking enough can help with nausea. Some women find relief in dry snacks such as crackers or pretzels, while others prefer cold popsicles. In pharmacy, you can buy special lollipops that relieve pregnancy sickness.

Back pain 

Especially in the later stages of pregnancy, back pain is a common nuisance. As weight increases and the abdomen grows, the load shifts more towards the middle of the body, changing the natural distribution of pressure on the muscles, joints and bones. 

In this case, one of the best ways to relieve pain is through exercises to strengthen the back and the core muscles. Practice only exercises that are designed for pregnant women, ideally under the supervision of an experienced physiotherapist. 

Cramps in the legs 

Cramps in the legs can have several causes in pregnancy, such as electrolyte imbalance or a deficiency of magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Of course, it can help if you supply the body with the necessary minerals. Stretching the muscles, applying dry, warm compresses or lightly massaging the muscles can also relieve the pain.

Constipation and haemorrhoids

Due to hormonal changes and an increase in intra-abdominal pressure, unfortunately, haemorrhoids in pregnancy are not uncommon. A lack of these micronutrients can have a negative effect not only on the health of the mother, but also on the health of the baby.   • Folic acid: Folic acid is important for many biological processes in the body, and during pregnancy the requirements for folic acid increase significantly, up to threefold compared to the body's needs before pregnancy. Sufficiency of this vitamin is important as a prevention of heart defects and neural tube defects in the child. It also belongs to the preventive measures of pregnancy anaemia. 

  • Vitamin D: Vitamin D deficiency is associated with an increased risk of pre-eclampsia. In addition, studies have shown that it can have several adverse effects on a baby's health, including low postnatal weight, poor postnatal growth, bone fragility, or increased risk of developing autoimmune diseases. 

  • Vitamin C: As for vitamin C deficiency, it can adversely affect the development of the child's brain. However, not only a deficiency of this vitamin is not suitable, but also an excess of it, because in pregnancy the excess is not excreted out of the body, but its excretion takes place through the placenta into the blood of the foetus.
